Licence model
Microsoft Outlook 2016 is a perpetual, one-time purchase licence — you pay once and the application is yours permanently. It is installed on a single Windows PC and is non-transferable. Unlike Microsoft 365, it is not a subscription and does not renew.

System compatibility
Microsoft Outlook 2016 runs on Windows 10 and is compatible with earlier versions including Windows 7 SP1 and Windows 8.1 per the original system requirements. It has not been formally certified for Windows 11 by Microsoft. There is no Mac edition of Outlook 2016 as a standalone product — Outlook for Mac is available with a Microsoft 365 subscription.
Language and region
You choose your preferred display language during installation. The licence covers a single language and is not region-locked, so it activates from any country.
About Microsoft Outlook 2016
Outlook 2016 introduced the Clutter feature to automatically sort low-priority messages, and offered a polished interface for managing email, calendar, contacts, and tasks. Extended support ended 14 October 2025: the application continues to function after that date, but Microsoft no longer issues security patches or bug fixes. For organisations with compliance or security requirements, upgrading to Outlook 2021 or Outlook 2024 is recommended. It is not a Microsoft 365 subscription and does not include cloud storage, Teams, or other Microsoft 365 services.
